Main duties and responsibilities include:
Ensuring all areas of the hospice are clean and hygienic, including patient rooms, clinical spaces, and public areas. Carrying out deep cleans following patient discharge and maintaining hygiene standards throughout. Restocking supplies like hand towels, soap, and toilet rolls. Supporting your colleagues with tasks like bed-making, curtain washing, and floor care. Following all safety guidelines and contributing to a safe, welcoming environment for patients and visitors. Engaging respectfully with patients and visitors, offering support when needed.
About us Ashgate Hospice offers free, specialist, compassionate care for adults living with life-limiting or incurable illnesses, including cancer, neurological diseases, and advanced heart, kidney and lung conditions. Based in North Derbyshire, we support people and those important to them through a range of free and fee-paying services. Each year, we support over 2,640 people, helping them to manage symptoms, stay informed about their care, and maintain the best possible quality of life from diagnosis onwards. We also provide vital support to those important to them, including practical and emotional support, as well as bereavement care when someone has died.

Person Specification
Experience Essential
Excellent communication and teamwork skills. Highly motivated and proactive approach to work. Knowledge of basic cleaning methods and practices. Basic understanding of COSHH (Control of Substances Hazardous to Health).
Desirable
Willingness to work towards NVQ Level 2 in Cleaning and Infection Control. Experience working in a healthcare setting, where cleanliness is important. Previous housekeeping experience. Basic knowledge of health and safety rules.
