Finch Woods Academy caters for primary and secondary-aged pupils who present with social, emotional and mental health (SEMH) needs and other complex special educational needs and disabilities. We provide personalised education, care and support that enables every pupil to develop confidence, achieve recognised qualifications and build the skills they need for a positive and successful future.
We are seeking to appoint a dedicated and enthusiastic Teaching Assistant (SEND) - Sports and Physical Education to support pupils with SEMH and complex needs within our specialist setting. The successful candidate will be passionate about making a positive difference to the lives of children and young people with additional needs and will work closely with the PE Lead, teachers and senior leaders to support pupils both within the classroom and through sporting, physical education and enrichment activities.
The role will involve supporting learning, promoting positive behaviour, encouraging participation in physical activity, assisting with pupils' emotional regulation, and helping to create a safe, inclusive and engaging learning environment. The successful candidate should have experience of working with children or young people with SEND and be able to build positive relationships whilst maintaining high expectations.
An interest or experience in sport, physical education, coaching or enrichment activities would be advantageous, although this is not essential. We are looking for an individual who is proactive, resilient, adaptable and able to work effectively as part of a dedicated multi-disciplinary team.
