The Role:

The purpose of the service is to reduce inequalities within health, employment and life experiences for people with learning disabilities and mental ill health. To engage, enable and empower individuals with learning disabilities and mental ill health to have fulfilled, rewarding and healthy lives. Utilising a strengths-based approach, through partnership working with the individual, their family and carers, health partners, local businesses, employers, organisations and the local community we endeavour to achieve our purpose. Job description Job responsibilities

Under the supervision of the Day Services Management Team you will play an important role in delivering a quality service in line with departmental Policies and Philosophies relating to Adults with Learning Disabilities.

Key Duties / Responsibilities

1. To attend to the personal care needs of the individual in line with the agreed care plan.

2. To help individuals to learn more skills.

3. To participate in record keeping.

4. To be involved in duties, which enable individuals to develop and maintain links in the community as, agreed in IPPs.

5. To liaise with families, carers and colleagues.

6. To work flexibly and effectively with people, irrespective of their degree of disability.

7. Willingness to undertake training specific to the tasks required.

8. Any other duties commensurate with the designation and grading of this post.

Person Specification

Qualifications Essential

Have relevant work experience and/or understanding of the disability field and be able to demonstrate that experience gained can be applied in practice.

Experience Essential

Have a positive attitude towards people with Learning Disabilities. Have a good basic standard of literacy and numeracy and the ability to clearly record information Be highly motivated and have a positive commitment to self advocacy and understand the concepts of Social Role Valorisation Have the ability to demonstrate, train and assess life skills. Be willing to participate in Induction, Post Induction and other work-related training. Show a commitment to the promotion of anti-discriminatory and anti-racial practice, the respect of service users as individuals and the development of positive attitudes and non-judgemental practice. To be able to fully meet the requirements of the post either by possession of a current valid driving licence or by access to public or other transport in line with the Equality Act 2010.
