Salary: £110,000 - 130,000 per year
Requirements
- Proven experience leading software engineering teams as a Head of Engineering, Engineering Director or senior Engineering Manager.
- Experience implementing and managing agentic AI coding workflows across an engineering team, not simply using AI tools individually.
- Strong technical background in TypeScript, React and Node.js.
- Good knowledge of GraphQL, PostgreSQL and cloud infrastructure, ideally Azure.
- Experience with CI/CD, Docker and modern DevOps practices.
- Strong people leadership, Agile delivery and stakeholder management skills.
- Experience working alongside Principal or Staff Engineers.
- Experience with React Native, IoT, connected hardware or product-led SaaS businesses is advantageous.
Responsibilities
- Lead and develop a multidisciplinary engineering team across front-end, back-end, mobile and DevOps.
- Own software delivery, engineering processes, quality and performance.
- Drive adoption of agentic AI development workflows, using tools such as Claude Code and Codex.
- Improve development speed, efficiency and quality through AI-assisted engineering.
- Work closely with Product Managers to deliver against the product roadmap.
- Manage recruitment, team development, technical debt and platform reliability.

We are a growing technology business developing technology-led products that combine cloud software, mobile applications and connected hardware. We are investing in modern engineering practices, particularly AI-first, agentic software development. This senior leadership role combines people management, technical oversight and ownership of engineering delivery. You will report to our IT Director and work closely with an established Principal Engineer. The proposed basic salary range is £110,000–£130,000, subject to confirmation, with a performance-related bonus, unlimited holiday, private healthcare, a pension and enhanced parental leave. You will have the opportunity to shape our growing engineering function and lead the adoption of AI-first development practices. The role is based in London, with five days per week in the office.
