Requirements
- Current and active UK Security Clearance (SC)
- Strong practical experience implementing and working with Command Query Responsibility Segregation (CQRS)
- Understanding of and practical experience with event-sourced architectures
- Commercial backend development experience with at least one of .NET, Java or Python
- Experience implementing messaging and asynchronous communication using Azure Service Bus
- Experience designing, developing and integrating backend APIs
- Understanding of distributed architectures, messaging patterns and service-to-service communication
- Experience working in an Agile engineering team or pod-based delivery environment
Responsibilities
- Design, develop and maintain backend services and applications within a pod-based delivery model
- Implement and support systems based on CQRS
- Develop and maintain event-driven architectures and distributed systems
- Contribute to implementing Event Sourcing patterns
- Design, develop and integrate RESTful APIs and backend services
- Build and maintain integrations using Azure Service Bus and messaging technologies
- Ensure backend solutions are scalable, resilient, secure and maintainable
- Collaborate with engineers, architects and other stakeholders to deliver technical solutions
- Contribute to code reviews, technical discussions and continuous improvement of engineering practices
- Troubleshoot, diagnose and resolve issues across distributed backend services

We are seeking a Mid Backend Engineer to join a collaborative delivery pod and help deliver robust, distributed backend solutions, with a focus on event-driven architecture and CQRS-based systems. This is a six-month contract, inside IR35, paying up to £580 per day. The role is London-based, with hybrid working and two to three days a week onsite.
