Requirements
- Commercial experience developing mobile applications using Kotlin/Android and/or Swift/iOS
- Strong understanding of mobile application security principles
- Experience implementing authentication, encryption and secure storage solutions
- Knowledge of secure coding practices and vulnerability remediation
- Experience developing reusable SDKs, frameworks or shared platform components
- Ability to work in modern engineering environments using CI/CD and automated testing practices
- Technical skills across relevant areas, including Kotlin, Android, Swift, iOS, mobile security, testing and security tooling, CI/CD, APIs and identity
- Desirable: experience in financial services, FinTech or regulated industries
- Desirable: experience with digital identity or authentication products
- Desirable: experience developing shared platforms, SDKs or frameworks
- Desirable: familiarity with mobile security testing tools such as MobSF or Frida
- Desirable: security certifications such as OSCP, GMOB, CISSP or equivalent
Responsibilities
- Design, develop and maintain secure Android and iOS framework components and SDKs
- Build mobile security capabilities, including authentication, encryption and device integrity controls
- Develop reusable libraries and platform services used across multiple applications
- Support threat-modelling exercises and security design reviews
- Identify and remediate security vulnerabilities
- Implement secure coding standards and engineering best practices
- Contribute to test automation and CI/CD pipelines
- Collaborate with engineering, architecture and security teams
- Drive continuous improvements in mobile security standards and practices

We are advertising a 12-month contract for a Mobile Security Engineer in Bristol, with hybrid working requiring 2–3 days per week onsite. The day rate is £500–£850, inside IR35, with the rate determined by experience. The role is part of a Digital Frameworks team building and maintaining secure Android and iOS frameworks for mobile applications across a large enterprise environment. It brings together mobile software engineering and application security, with opportunities for engineers from Android, iOS or mobile platform backgrounds at multiple experience levels. We see this as an opportunity to work on large-scale platforms underpinning critical mobile applications.
