As an Advanced Biomedical Scientist, you will play a pivotal role in the delivery of high-quality diagnostic services within our Haematology team.
Main duties of the job
Responsible as lead Biomedical Scientist for a specialist area
Manages and coordinates the day to day activities of the team
Leads on service improvement
Processes specialist investigations and responsible for standard and quality of results
Provides specialist advice to clinicians as to appropriateness of tests and timescales
Provides specialist service e.g. training, advanced trouble shooting, problem solving for specialist requirement.
To work flexibly in reflection of service needs which may include an extended working day and/or participation in delivery of a 24 hour, 7 day per week service.
Maintain and promote professional image of both Pathology and CUH Trust.
To work safely as the job entails coming into constant contact with human body fluids, tissues and hazardous chemicals. This may include blood, pus, urine, faeces, and respiratory secretions.

Qualifications Essential
oHCPC Registration as a Biomedical Scientist oBiomedical Science Degree or equivalent oMSc in Biomedical Science or related subject oAdditional appropriate specialist qualification if required, E.G higher specialist diploma (IBMS) oEvidence of Continual Professional Development
Desirable
oHolds or working towards a qualification that supports management responsibilities such as a certificate in Quality Management, Training or Leadership
Experience Essential
oExperience of Pathology IT systems. oExperience of Quality Management Systems. oExperience of training and supervision of staff oSubstantial practical experience of working in a Biomedical Science laboratory
Desirable
oPrevious relevant experience of working in the NHS at a senior level. oExperience of performing incident investigations, audits and risk assessments.
Knowledge Essential
oTheoretical knowledge of biomedical procedures. oSpecialist knowledge of Blood Sciences - particularly Haematology oKnowledge of Pathology IT systems. oKnowledge of Quality Management Systems. oDemonstrable understanding of ISO15189.
