Main duties of the job
This is a 12-month fixed-term full time (10 PA) post to enhance the care of patients with multiple sclerosis at the Royal Berkshire hospital. The successful applicant will join a team comprising an existing full-time neurology consultant with a special interest in MS (Dr Pritesh Pranay); an Oxford based MS consultant assisting with the care of Reading patients (Dr Marco Pisa); and three clinical nurse specialists. In addition to offering face-to-face and virtual clinics, the appointee will participate in local and regional MDT clinical and neuro-radiology meetings, and will supervise and support the MS nursing team.

In keeping with the Trust's aim of providing care closer to home, clinics are provided at the Royal Berkshire Hospital but also in facilities in Henley, Bracknell, Newbury and Wokingham. There is also increasing provision of video-clinics. Nerve conduction studies and EMG are provided the neurologists in-house and in-sourced from a third-party provider, with complex cases being referred to the John Radcliffe hospital, Oxford.
