The Radiographic Assistant undertakes a wide range of administrative duties and direct patient care to support the BTHFT Radiology team within a busy and dynamic department. This role is primarily based in the Primary Imaging (X-Ray) department at the Bradford Royal Infirmary (BRI), which covers a 24-hour service, 7 days a week.
Main duties of the job
o Assist radiographers in the safe handling of patients, in accordance with Trust Moving and Handling guidance.
o Always promote equality, diversity and inclusion.
o Adhere to Information Governance, ensuring patient confidentiality.
o Provide hygiene support for patients if required.
o Enable and assist patients to access and use toilet facilities.
o Provide eating and drinking support for patients who require assistance.
o Chaperone X-ray examinations where required and appropriate.
o Assistance with patient changing for examinations.
o Escalate safeguarding concerns appropriately.

Demonstrate effective communication skills in assisting patients, relatives, and carers with information regarding the Radiology department.
Work closely with radiographers, radiologists, and other members of the multidisciplinary team to maintain a smooth and effective service.
Escort patients within and outside the department where required.
Utilise efficient IT and computer skills to access and input patient data.
Monitor patient wait times and communicate delays with the waiting area and referring departments.
