About us

We are a General Medical Practice with 5 part-time Partners, and 3 part-time Salaried GPs (5 female and 3 male) serving the population of Broughton Astley and the surrounding villages. We also have three Advanced Nurse Practitioners. We have two purpose built surgeries for the benefit of patients. The Broughton Astley Surgery was built in 1985 and substantially extended in 1994. The Ullesthorpe Surgery was built in 1991. Both Surgeries provide disabled access. We are a busy, friendly practice offering an excellent opportunity for the right candidate.

Job Summary

To support the existing Management Team with aspects of varied administration duties, including them management of incoming insurance reports. The post holder will work closely with the Practice Manager and other members of the management team to ensure the delivery of quality patient services for all of our patient.

The post holder will have excellent written and communication skills, be flexible in their approach with the ability to use initiative to manage conflicting priorities.

The right candidate will be confident in using MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint) and in learning to use new computer systems.

Key Responsibilities

Main duties to include, but not limited to:

Management of the insurance reports

Incoming letters

Summarising patient records

Helping the Practice to achieve QOF targets

Ordering stationary & medical supplies

Management emails

Setting up patient recalls

Management of significant events

Other general administration tasks

Service Delivery

Champion up to date patient contact information in SystmOne records.

Respond to administrative queries from patients and healthcare professionals.

Assist with QOF, IIF, and other enhanced service monitoring and reporting.

Support the creation of patient information materials and website/social media updates.

Build a robust knowledge of General Practice

Staff and Training

Complete all mandatory and role-specific training within agreed timeframes (e.g. safeguarding,

confidentiality, equality, data protection).

Participate in continuing professional development and identify training needs through annual appraisal.

Attending staff meetings where appropriate.

Systems and Equipment

Competent use of IT systems including SystmOne, Office 365, AccuRx, and digital communication tools.

Maintain accurate, secure, and confidential records in line with GDPR and organisational policy.

Safeguarding Responsibilities

Complete mandatory safeguarding training for children and adults.

Follow safeguarding policies and report any concerns promptly to the Safeguarding Lead.

Maintain professional curiosity and awareness of the safeguarding needs of vulnerable adults and children.

Risk Management / Health & Safety

Comply with the Health & Safety at Work Act 1974 and Orchard Medical Practice safety procedures.

Report hazards, near misses, and incidents promptly.

Maintain a safe working environment for patients, staff, and visitors.

Policies and Procedures

Adhere to all Orchard Medical Practice policies, procedures, and professional standards.

Work Environment & Flexibility

Based at the Orchard Medical Practice main site in Broughton Astley. Working hours will be Monday - Friday 9.00 a.m. 5.00 p.m.

Qualifications Essential

Experience desirable but not essential as full training will be provided.
