The Pharmacy Department at Mersey and West Lancashire NHS Teaching Hospitals Trust is delighted to be able to offer a vacancy for a Pharmacy Dispensing Assistant to join our forward-thinking and innovative pharmacy departments.
You will be based at Whiston and St Helens Hospitals and will play an important role in providing 5-star patient care.

Opportunities are available within the department to develop, and to train as a Pharmacy Technician.
Applicants must have an NVQ L2 in Pharmacy Service skills, or a GPhC approved dispensing qualification for Pharmacy support staff. (Certificates must be presented at interview.)

Main duties of the job
The post holder will participate with other team members of the pharmacy staff aiming to provide an efficient and comprehensive pharmaceutical service within the pharmacy departments of Mersey and West Lancashire Teaching Hospital NHS Trust, under the direction of the Chief Pharmacist. Duties will include labelling, dispensing, stock rotation, storage, dealing with dispensary queries and patient counselling.

Our inpatient unit at Newton Community Hospital is where patients needing acute hospital beds can continue rehabilitation, freeing up space for more unwell patients. We also provide urgent care at our Urgent Treatment Centre located in St Helens town centre.
Specialist Regional Services
We provide the Mersey Regional Burns & Plastic Surgery Unit at Whiston Hospital and the Spinal Injuries Unit at Southport Hospital to more than 4 million people across the whole of Merseyside, West Lancashire, Cheshire, Isle of Man and North Wales.

Qualifications Essential
Has completed a recognised dispensing qualification NVQ level 2 Pharmacy services qualification
Experience Essential
Experience working in a Pharmacy environment with demonstrable understanding of procedures gained through additional role-based training up to NVQ level 3 Experience of Working with computer systems
Desirable
Experience in using CMM/EMIS Pharmacy Computer System(s)
