Job summary
The Vascular Nurse Specialist provides expert, patient-centred care for individuals with vascular conditions across acute and community settings, ensuring high standards of assessment, diagnosis, treatment, and ongoing management. Working autonomously and as part of a multidisciplinary team, the role combines advanced clinical practice with leadership, education, and service development to improve patient outcomes. Responsibilities include running nurse-led clinics, supporting inpatient care, coordinating complex care pathways, and contributing to research and clinical governance. The post holder also plays a key role in advising staff and patients, promoting evidence-based practice, and driving continuous improvements in vascular services. this post will cover cross site working within the organisation
Main duties of the job
The Vascular Nurse Specialist is responsible for delivering advanced clinical care to patients with vascular conditions, including assessment, diagnosis, treatment, and ongoing management within both outpatient and inpatient settings. Key duties include running nurse-led clinics, supporting ward-based care, requesting and interpreting diagnostic investigations, and making autonomous clinical decisions. The role involves providing specialist advice and education to patients, families, and healthcare professionals, as well as coordinating care across multidisciplinary teams and community services. Additional responsibilities include leading service improvements, developing clinical guidelines and pathways, participating in audit and research activities, and contributing to staff training, leadership, and professional development within the vascular service.
