Job summary
Join our dynamic Medical Staffing Team as a Senior Medical Staffing Officer and play a vital role in supporting Doctors in Training across Lewisham and Greenwich NHS Trust. You'll lead on junior doctor rotations, manage end-to-end recruitment and onboarding processes, and ensure accurate ESR setup and pay for all trainees. Acting as a specialist advisor, you'll provide expert guidance on the 2016 Terms and Conditions for Doctors in Training, resolve complex pay queries, and work closely with NHS England, Royal Colleges, Finance, Medical Education, and clinical teams.
Main duties of the job
Lead and coordinate all junior doctor national rotations, ensuring smooth delivery and timely communication with NHS England and internal departments.
Oversee the preparation and issuing of work schedules for Doctors in Training, including Less Than Full Time (LTFT) trainees.
Manage end-to-end recruitment and onboarding processes, ensuring all pre-employment checks, clearances, and ESR entries are completed accurately and on time.
Act as the first point of contact for medical staffing queries, providing expert advice on the 2016 Terms & Conditions for Doctors in Training.
Handle and resolve complex pay queries, liaising closely with payroll and Finance to ensure accurate payments and vacancy management.
Issue honorary contracts and ensure compliance with Trust policies and employment standards.
Coordinate rotation gaps and liaise with departments to arrange Clinical Fellows where needed.
Support Doctors in Training with relocation expenses, maternity/paternity processes, and employment documentation (e.g., ILR letters, certificates of employment).
Supervise the Band 4 Medical Staffing Officer and support junior team members, including training and day-to-day oversight.
Attend regional and local medical HR meetings, representing the Workforce Directorate.
Contribute to workforce reporting, data management, and departmental improvement initiatives.

Postgraduate qualification in Human Resources (or equivalent experience)
