Job summary
The Ophthalmology team are seeking an enthusiastic, motivated person who can offer excellent secretarial and administration skills to assist in the provision of a comprehensive service.
To be successful you will need excellent communication skills. You will also need a flexible and professional approach to the work and enjoy the variety of communication with a wide range of people both internal and external to the Trust. This includes being the first point of contact for communication within the clinical team. Workload organization for the Consultant and team as well as providing cover for colleagues as necessary.
This vacancy is for a 12 month Fixed Term Contract to cover maternity leave.

Main duties of the job
Take and process telephone calls in an appropriate manner. Telephone calls will involve contact with patients, carers and health professionals and may involve the provision of non-clinical advice.
Provide cover for other members of staff as directed by the CAL.
Sort, distribute and prioritise internal/external post, including communication by e-mail. Requesting case notes as necessary.
General correspondence, e.g. discharge summaries, reports and other communication by use of advanced keyboard skills either using audio typing techniques or other digital formats as directed by the CAL, utilising the ability to accurately transcribe dictation, understanding the context and re-arranging as necessary. Correspondence may be of a distressing nature.
Data quality check the outcomes of clinic outcomes altering PAS to reflect the relevant clinical notes in close co-operation with the Medical Secretary.

GCSE in English and Maths grade 9 to 4 (A* to C) or equivalent.

AMSPAR Medical Secretarial Diploma. RSA stage 3 typing or equivalent Proven windows experience (Word, Excel, Powerpoint)
