Dilston Medical Centre is looking to recruit an enthusiastic Health Care Assistant who has experience of working in the NHS to join our friendly team.
We are looking for a team player with a flexible and commited attitude to work.
Main duties of the job
Working under direct supervision of the lead Practice Nurse and GPs and strictly in accordance with specific practice guidelines and protocols, the healthcare assistant will assist the practice clinical team in the provision and delivery of prescribed programmes of clinical care.
Duties will including phlebotomy, ECGs, Injections (B12/Flus) BP checks, labelling of samples but are not limited too.

The partnership consists of two GP's who are supported by a salaried GP, one ACP, one practice nurse, one HCA and a fantastic administration team. We also host medical students.
Our current list size is approx 9,000 patients. We use System One clinical system. Our aim is to provide the best possible patient care to our patients in a safe and welcoming environment.

Job description Job responsibilities
Working under direct supervision of the Lead nurse and GPs and strictly in accordance with specific practice guidelines and protocols, the healthcare assistant will assist the practice clinical team in the provision and delivery of prescribed programmes of clinical care.
Nursing
New patient health checks.
key role in chronic disease observation monitoring.
BP monitoring
Urinalysis/pregnancy testing.
Phlebotomy.
Spirometry.
NHS Healthchecks.
Administer vaccinations under PSD.
Assist when necessary with childhood and adolescent immunisations maintaining any Child Health and Practice records including completing any necessary claims, reporting any problems.
Provide lifestyle advice to patients making any necessary referrals within the Practice.
Weight monitoring.
Ensure specimens are labelled and bagged ready for collection with the necessary paperwork completed.
Ensure sharps bags are ready for collection.
Restocking/maintenance of equipment and stock rotation.
Restocking of clinical areas and consulting rooms.
Assisting in minor surgery and sexual health clinics.
ECG recording.
Chaperoning duties.
Vaccine/cold chain storage, monitoring and recording.
Administration and professional responsibilities.
Participate in the administrative and professional responsibilities of the Practice team.
Ensure accurate of all consultations and treatments are recorded in the patients notes.
Ensure the clinical computer system is kept up to date with accurate details recorded.
Ensure accurate completion of all necessary documentation associated with patient health care and registration with the Practice.
Ensure collection and maintenance of statistical information required for regular and ad hoc reports.
Attend and participate in Practice meetings as required.
Restocking and maintenance of clinical areas and consulting rooms.
To assist in seasonal and special projects as requested e.g. flu campaign.
Ordering and display of Health Promotion materials where required.
Working to the protocols and procedures of the practice.
Taking responsibility for own development, learning and performance.
Any other delegated duties considered appropriate to the post.
Person Specification
Experience Essential
Experience of working in primary care with good organisational skills with the ability to prioritise workload. Experience of using computers with good keyboard skills. Experience of working in General Practice
Desirable
Experience of using SystmOne
Qualifications Essential
General education to GCSE level or equivalent Care certificate or willing to work towards NVQ level 3 in care Qualified in Phlebotomy
