Job summary
We areseekingan experienced, motivated, andforward-thinkingRecovery Team Leaderto join our dynamic perioperative team. This is a key leadership role within a busy, multispecialty theatre environment, supportinghigh-qualitypost-anaestheticcare across a wide range of surgical services including general, orthopaedic, gynaecology, obstetrics, urology,ENTand breast surgery.
As Recovery Team Leader, you will coordinate theday-to-dayrunning of the recovery unit, ensuring safe, efficient, andpatient-centredcare. You will act as a clinical role model, providing guidance, support, and mentorship to the recovery team while fostering a positive, collaborative culture.
Main duties of the job
Lead and coordinate the recovery unit across multiple surgical specialities, ensuring safe staffing and smooth patient flow.
Providehigh-qualityclinical care and act as an expert resource forpost-anaestheticandpost-operativemanagement.
Support staff development through coaching, supervision, competency assessment, andidentifyingtraining needs.
Promote staff wellbeing, engagement, and retention through effective communication, visibility, and supportive leadership.
Work closely with theatre coordinators, anaesthetists, surgeons, and wider MDT tomaintainhigh standardsof care and operational efficiency.
Contribute to service improvement initiatives, audit, and quality assurance activities.
Ensure compliance with clinical governance, infection control, and health & safety standards.

Person Specification
Experience Essential
Excellent clinical skills within specialty Proven Senior Recovery Practitioner level with knowledge of list suite management Team Development Teaching experience
Desirable
Proven experience as Senior Recovery Practitioner level with evidence of leadership and management experience.
Qualifications Essential
Registered Nurse Part 1 Evidence of Post registration qualification/specialist development. Mentorship qualification
Desirable
Undertaken or willing to undertake recognised management course Recovery Specialist Practice Award or similar
Knowledge Essential
Problem solving approach Day to day management responsibilities Demonstrate knowledge of resource management within team Demonstrate excellent clinical skills within the post-operative setting
