About this role

Job Title: Low Voltage / Fiber TechnicianJob DescriptionThis role focuses on installing and supporting low-voltage and fiber infrastructure within a large-scale semiconductor construction environment. You will install and route fiber and copper cabling, build cable pathways, perform terminations, assist with testing and troubleshooting, and support I&C (instrumentation and controls) work in a complex industrial setting. The position offers hands-on exposure to mission-critical systems, including data-center style cabling, racks, and structured pathways, while working safely and efficiently on an active construction site.

Responsibilities

  • Install, pull, route, dress, secure and label low-voltage fiber and copper cabling throughout a large industrial construction site.
  • Install and support Cat5e, Cat6 and Cat6A cable systems, ensuring proper terminations and adherence to industry standards.
  • Install cable tray, basket tray, ladder rack, J-hooks, fiber runners and other cable pathways to support structured cabling systems.
  • Assist with the installation of racks, cabinets, MDF/IDF buildouts, fiber enclosures and related infrastructure for data and control systems.
  • Perform low-voltage copper terminations, including RJ45 and patch-panel terminations, and complete basic testing of installed cabling.
  • Dress, patch and support fiber-optic cable installations, including fiber dressing and enclosure work, based on experience and project needs.
  • Use cable testers or certification testers to verify continuity and performance, and support basic troubleshooting of failed or marginal tests.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, cable schedules, pathway plans, device layouts and low-voltage drawings to identify routes, equipment locations and device placements.
  • Maintain proper cable separation, bend radius, support and labeling in accordance with TIA/EIA, BICSI and project-specific practices.
  • Identify and communicate damaged cable, failed tests, incomplete pathways and other installation issues to the appropriate lead or supervisor.
  • Work safely with hand tools, power tools, ladders and lifts while installing cable, pathways, racks and related infrastructure.
  • Support low-voltage, controls and I&C installation tasks beyond standard structured cabling as directed by project leadership.
  • Assist with access control, audio-visual, CCTV/security and other low-voltage systems as required by project scope and your experience.
  • Maintain a clean, safe and organized work area, following all site housekeeping and safety expectations.
  • Follow all project-specific safety requirements and procedures, including those defined by the site owner and the I&C contractor.
  • Perform other related duties within low-voltage, fiber, controls and I&C installation as assigned based on experience and project priorities.

Essential Skills

  • Hands-on experience installing, pulling, routing, dressing, securing and labeling low-voltage fiber and copper cabling in commercial, industrial, semiconductor, data-center or mission-critical environments.
  • Demonstrated experience installing copper cabling, including Cat5e, Cat6 and/or Cat6A systems, in active construction settings.
  • Practical understanding of copper and/or fiber installation practices, including proper cable support, bend radius and separation.
  • Ability to read and interpret low-voltage drawings, blueprints, cable schedules, device layouts and pathway drawings to execute installation work accurately.
  • Experience performing copper terminations, including RJ45 and patch-panel terminations for structured cabling systems.
  • Familiarity with racks, cabinets, patch panels, MDF/IDF buildouts, ladder rack, basket tray and fiber-management systems.
  • Experience using cable testers or certification equipment to verify installation quality and troubleshoot basic continuity issues.
  • Ability to work productively from direction provided by a lead technician, foreman or superintendent, and to communicate clearly with team members.
  • Strong attendance, communication and jobsite-safety habits, including consistent use of required PPE and adherence to safety protocols.
  • Ability to work from ladders and potentially use lifts for overhead installation of cable and pathways.
  • Ability to perform extensive walking and work on multiple levels or flights of stairs in a large industrial construction environment.
  • Ability to work safely and effectively in an active industrial-construction setting with ongoing semiconductor and I&C activities.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience installing or supporting fiber-optic cabling, including fiber dressing, patching and enclosure work.
  • Experience in data-center cabling, mission-critical environments, MDF/IDF buildouts and structured pathway systems such as ladder rack, basket tray and fiber runner.
  • Exposure to TIA/EIA, BICSI and OSHA practices in mission-critical data-center or industrial environments.
  • Experience with access control, audio-visual systems and CCTV/security systems in low-voltage applications.
  • Familiarity with I&C (instrumentation and controls) or controls-related installations in industrial or semiconductor facilities.
  • Fiber, data-center, controls/I&C or semiconductor experience, especially on large, complex projects, is highly preferred.
  • Experience working in large industrial environments where extensive walking, multi-level work and coordination with other trades is required.
  • OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 safety training is preferred and demonstrates a strong commitment to safe work practices.
  • Interest in progressing from basic cable installation into more technical fiber, testing, controls or lead-level work.

Why Work Here? This opportunity allows you to build valuable, hands-on experience on a major semiconductor project while working with an established I&C and automation contractor. You will gain exposure to fiber and copper infrastructure, structured pathways, controls-related installations and mission-critical construction practices that go beyond standard cable pulling. The role offers the chance to develop skills in testing, I&C systems and advanced low-voltage work, positioning you for future growth into more technical or lead-level positions.

You will work in a large, technically demanding industrial environment with approximately 50 or more scheduled hours per week, subject to project confirmation, and you can align yourself with a broader portfolio of semiconductor, data-center and I&C projects. The organization operates as a family-owned systems integration and I&C construction firm, emphasizing industrial automation, instrumentation, testing, commissioning and troubleshooting, and offers benefits to support your long-term career. Work EnvironmentThe work takes place on a large semiconductor campus within an active industrial construction site, focused predominantly on low-voltage and I&C installation.

The primary scope involves small wire, cable tray, pathways, approximately 3/4-inch to 1-inch conduit, and fiber and copper infrastructure installed throughout a complex facility. Technicians can expect extensive walking across a large site, frequent use of multiple flights of stairs and regular ladder work for overhead installations. Work is performed in a dynamic environment with other trades present, where safety and coordination are critical. Personal protective equipment is required in accordance with site rules, and safety training such as OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 is viewed favorably. The schedule is anticipated to offer approximately 50 or more hours per week, subject to confirmation based on the current project plan. Internal transportation and lunch arrangements may vary by project and should be reconfirmed for the specific assignment.
