Job summary
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a highly motivated senior nurse who is passionate about lung cancer to co-lead and develop the cross site Lung Cancer CNS Team. This is a Band 8a permanent post and is currently part-time - 22.5 hours per week. This is a Macmillan badged post with access to support and educational funding.
Applications for this post are invited from nurses who have had extensive experience in lung cancer. We are looking for a dynamic, forward thinking individual who is flexible, self-motivated, and reliable plus a good team player and leader. The successful candidate should have a degree and be willing to develop their academic and clinic practice. They should have excellent communication skills verbally and written. They will play an active part in clinical practice, education, research/audit and the implementation of national guidelines and transformative services. The successful applicant will work as part of a well-established dynamic multi-disciplinary Lung Cancer team who provide specialist advice, holistic care and support to patients, relatives and members of the health care teams. They will be required to lead, develop and evaluate the Lung Cancer service to improve and maintain standards of patient care and promote a seamless service within a multi-disciplinary framework.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will have led clinical responsibility for supporting the Head of Nursing in Cancer in activities relating to the delivery of high-quality care to patients admitted to the trust with a lung cancer diagnosis. They will lead on delegated projects on behalf of the Head of Nursing and be a clinical expert in Lung Cancer. The Post Holder will continually develop, implement and evaluate the Lung Cancer Service to improve and maintain standards of patient care and promote a seamless service within a multi-professional framework. Ensure that the users of the service are actively involved in the development of the service and that their recommendations are disseminated to the Cancer Management Team ensuring appropriate actions are devised. The post-holder will have clinical and managerial responsibility for a defined clinical portfolio at Frimley Health Foundation Trust. The postholder will be accountable for ensuring the highest standard of clinical care is provided within the relevant setting. They will be easily identifiable to clients and users, provide strong, visible leadership and have the appropriate level of authority to provide support, advice and assistance required by patients, their families and carers. The post holder will lead and manage the Lung Cancer CNS Nursing Teams cross-site on a daily basis, ensuring that the teams provide an excellent service to the Trust through evidence based practice, education, policy and guideline development.
