About this role

Job summary The Breast Services at LTHT covers the Leeds & Wakefield Breast Screening Service and Breast Imaging. The Leeds & Wakefield Breast Screening Service has both mobile and static site throughout the city. The breast assessment unit is based at Seacroft Hospital and our symptomatic service is based at St James's Hospital.

The job holder will work across all sites and play an essential role supporting the Principle Radiographer, Team Leaders and Senior Radiographers by facilitating education, training and practice development.

They will ensure a high standard of education for all registered and unregistered breast radiology staff.

Why you should join our Team This is an exciting new role in breast screening/imaging and a successful candidate will play a leading part in shaping the role to suit the needs of the department. We have a multi-disciplinary team including administration, radiographers, assistant radiographer practitioners, breast care nurses and radiologists.

Our department is regularly involved in research and candidates should be passionate about innovative techniques and processes in breast imaging. We have a team of advanced radiographer practitioners and consultant radiographers who perform advanced techniques such as stereo-tactic biopsies, ultrasound guided biopsies, image interpretation and contrast biopsies.

What you will bring to the role Take a lead role in training within the specialist field Collaborate with education providers in the co-ordination and delivery of clinical training for Specialist Radiographers and Assistant Radiographer Practitioners. Formulate and review a comprehensive induction/training programme for all staff new to the specialist area. Support the development of evidence based practice and research activities to enhance patient care. Expert knowledge in their specialised field by continuing professional development in accordance with the Health Professions Council and the NHSBSP. Person Specification

Qualifications Essential

BSc (or equivalent) in Diagnostic Radiography Diploma of the College in Radiographers (Diagnostic) State Registration (HPC) Post Graduate Qualification or equivalent in specialist area.

Experience Essential

Commitment to undergo all training requirements of the post. Expand upon core knowledge using Evidence Based Practice (EBP) Take a leading role in clinical training programmes in specialist area. Acting as a source of highly specialist complex information to more junior staff. Mandatory training in CPR, fire safety, moving and handling
