About this role
Herbert Thorpe JNR is currently seeking a Buyer and Procurement Officer for their site at Proudstown, Tara, Co. Meath to manage the end-to-end acquisition of goods and supplies, ensuring cost-effective purchasing, quality control, and supplier management.
Duties will include
- Managing procurement and supplier relationships.
- Sourcing and purchasing pigeon feed, supplements, medications, loft equipment, accessories, and other pigeon-related products.
- Inspecting deliveries for quality, labelling, condition, and compliance with company standards.
- Monitoring stock rotation (FIFO where applicable) and removing damaged, expired, or substandard products.
- Ensuring proper storage of products and compliance with relevant quality and safety standards.
- Conducting quality checks and maintaining procurement, supplier, and inventory records.

Requirements
- Experience in procurement, purchasing, or supply chain management.
- Strong attention to detail and organisational skills.
- Knowledge of stock control and inventory management (including FIFO where applicable).
- Good communication, negotiation, and problem-solving skills.
- Experience in the agricultural, animal care, or pet supplies sector is desirable.
