Job Description
- Provide professional and safe nursing care to patients in the Operation Theatre in accordance with hospital policies and standards.
- Prepare and ensure readiness of the operating theatre, including equipment, instruments, and necessary supplies prior to procedures.
- Assist surgeons and anaesthetists during surgical procedures, ensuring proper handling of instruments and maintaining sterile techniques at all times.
- Monitor patients’ condition before, during, and after procedures, and promptly report any abnormalities.
- Ensure accurate documentation, proper labelling of specimens, and compliance with patient safety and infection control protocols.
- Coordinate with ward staff and multidisciplinary teams to ensure smooth patient flow and efficient OT operations.
- Maintain cleanliness, proper handling, and functionality of equipment, and report any faults accordingly.
- Participate in continuous improvement activities, audits, and training programmes as required.
Requirements
Education
- Registered with the Nursing Board of Malaysia with a valid Annual Practicing Certificate (APC)
Knowledge and Experience
- Minimum 8–10 years of clinical experience, preferably in Operation Theatre or relevant setting.
Skills & Competencies
- Possess valid certification in BLS and ACLS (PALS/NRP is an added advantage).
- Proficient in written and spoken English and Bahasa Malaysia.
- Computer literate (Microsoft Office).
