Te kōwhiringa | The Opportunity
This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced civil surfacing leader to take ownership of chipsealing operations across Otago and Southland.
We are looking for someone who knows the contracting environment, understands what great operational delivery looks like, and can bring together people, programmes, commercial performance and strong client relationships.
As Chipseal Delivery Manager, you’ll provide leadership and direction across our Lower South chipsealing operations, working closely with our local teams to deliver safe, profitable and high-quality outcomes. You’ll have oversight across projects including input into tenders but predominantly focused on planning the delivery of our chipsealing works. You will help build capability within our teams and identify opportunities for continued growth.
Key Responsibilities
- Leading and supporting chipsealing operations across the Lower South including responsibility for managing our sealing crews and fleet of equipment.
- Drive safe, efficient and profitable delivery across our contracts
- Oversee project planning, methodology, programmes, budgets and delivery
- Building strong relationships with clients, subcontractors, suppliers and internal stakeholders
- Monitor financial performance, forecasting, claims, risks and project outcomes
- Identifying opportunities to improve performance and support sustainable business growth
- Coaching and developing our people, strengthening capability and succession across the team
- Championing a strong Zero Harm culture and maintaining high standards across safety, quality and environmental performance
Nga pūkenga matua | Important Skills
We’re looking for an experienced leader with a strong understanding of civil construction and contracting. Ideally, you’ll bring specialist knowledge of chipsealing or surfacing operations and be comfortable leading across multiple teams, projects and locations.
You’ll also bring
- Proven leadership and people management experience within civil construction, maintenance or a similar contracting environment
- Strong project and operational management experience, ideally across the full lifecycle from tender through to delivery
- A tertiary qualification in Civil Engineering or a related field would be advantageous but not necessary. Strong relevant industry experience is essential.
- Sound commercial understanding, including budgets, forecasting, cost control and contract performance
- A practical, solutions focused approach and the confidence to make decisions in a fast-moving operational environment
