Job responsibilities

Why you should join our Team
Leeds Dental Institute is a dental teaching hospital hosting over 80,000 patient episodes each year whilst providing training for dentists and all DCP groups including Dental Technicians. Our in-house Dental Production Laboratory employs 27 staff including 23 GDC registered Dental Technicians to provide laboratory services for around 400 undergraduate and post graduate dental students in addition to many clinical staff of all grades and disciplines.
As an on-site service within a teaching environment, our technical staff routinely interact and liaise directly with clinical staff and students, providing opportunities to work and learn together and build a great team-working experience
What you will bring to the role
Working as part of a small team, the post holder will be responsible for the production of a range of removable appliances, immediate retainers, vacuum formed appliances, bite raisers, splints, study models and repairs, plus some of the more complex / less routine orthodontic work as appropriate for own development. Appliances typically manufactured using wrought wires and sintered metals, along with acrylic polymers and using both conventional production techniques alongside in-house design for digital production methods with 3-Shape and Leone digital design software
Support and encouragement for personal development will be given with potential for involvement in some of the more complex work and where possible the opportunity to undertake further qualifications relevant to the post.
Working in a production laboratory within a teaching hospital you will need to confidently deal face to face with our clinical staff providing advice and support to them as well as occasionally supporting some of our student dental technicians who may be gaining work experience within the department
Short-listed candidates will be invited to a selection process which initially includes an appropriate skills test (details to be confirmed). Face to face interviews to be held thereafter with a selection panel.
