Forklift Operator @ Aerotek

Job Title: Forklift OperatorJob DescriptionThis role focuses on safely and efficiently loading and unloading trailers in a busy crossdock warehouse environment. You will primarily operate a dockstocker forklift and power pallet jack equipment to move, stage, and organize freight, ensuring accurate and timely shipping and receiving activities.

Responsibilities

• Operate a dockstocker forklift for approximately 85% of the shift to load and unload trailers arriving at and leaving the facility.
• Operate end rider and walkie power pallet jacks (single and double jack) to transport freight and stage loads.
• Load, unload, and stage trailers in a fast-paced crossdock environment, ensuring freight is placed in the correct locations.
• Support shipping and receiving activities by handling pallets, packaging, and general warehouse tasks.
• Use RF scanners to scan, track, and verify freight and pallet movements.
• Lift and move items up to 50 lbs as required during loading, unloading, and staging tasks.

Essential Skills

• Proven experience operating a forklift in a warehouse or crossdock environment.
• Experience with dockstocker equipment for moving pallets and materials.
• Ability to operate power pallet jacks, including end rider and walkie models (single and double jack).
• Background in material handling, including loading, unloading, and staging freight.
• Experience in shipping and receiving within a warehouse setting.
• Ability to use RF scanners for tracking and verifying freight.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs safely and repeatedly.
• Comfort working in a fast-paced environment with frequent trailer movements.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Previous experience in a crossdock facility or similar high-volume warehouse environment.
• Familiarity with packaging, palletizing, and staging freight for outbound and inbound shipments.
• Strong attention to safety and adherence to warehouse operating procedures.
• Reliability and flexibility to work scheduled shifts, including weekends and holidays when required.

Work EnvironmentThis role is based in a crossdock warehouse where trailers are constantly arriving and departing and must be loaded, unloaded, and staged efficiently. The facility operates 365 days a year, and you will be scheduled to work one of the following shifts: Saturday to Monday, 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. day shift, or Saturday to Monday, 8:00 p.m. to 8:00 a.m. night shift, with hours topped up to 40 per week.

The environment is fast-paced, with regular use of dockstockers and power pallet jacks (end rider and walkie), RF scanners, and other standard warehouse equipment. You will work indoors on the warehouse floor, handling pallets, packaging, and general freight, and you will be expected to work all statutory holidays that fall on your scheduled days.

Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract to Hire position based out of Calgary, AB.

Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $23.00 - $24.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
