Fire Sprinkler Installer @ Aerotek

Job Title: Fire Sprinkler Fitter / Fire Sprinkler MechanicJob DescriptionThis role focuses on installing, fitting, and maintaining fire sprinkler systems on mid-rise and high-rise construction projects. You will work with screw pipe, groove pipe, sprinkler pipe, and cast iron, utilizing a 300 machine to thread and install main lines and sprinkler heads. The position requires strong technical skills in fire protection systems, fire pumps, and plumbing mechanics, as well as the ability to complete approximately 100 linear feet of main line installation per day and accurately read blueprints.

Responsibilities

• Install, fit, and assemble fire sprinkler systems, including main lines, sprinkler heads, and related components.
• Utilize a 300 machine to thread and prepare screw pipe, groove pipe, and sprinkler pipe for installation.
• Work with cast iron and other piping materials to build complete fire protection systems.
• Complete approximately 100 linear feet of main line installation per day while maintaining quality and safety standards.
• Interpret and work from blueprints to lay out and install fire sprinkler and fire protection systems accurately.
• Perform sprinkler fitting and plumbing mechanic tasks associated with fire pumps and fire protection systems.
• Ensure all installations meet applicable codes, standards, and project specifications.
• Use appropriate hand tools and equipment safely and effectively throughout daily tasks.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area on mid-rise and high-rise job sites.
• Wear required PPE at all times and comply with all site safety protocols and physical certification requirements.
• Collaborate with foremen, mechanics, and other trades to coordinate work and meet project timelines.
• Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to fire sprinkler system layout, threading, and installation.

Essential Skills

• 810 years of experience in fire sprinkler fitting or closely related fire sprinkler mechanic work.
• Strong proficiency in sprinkler fitting and plumbing mechanic tasks related to fire protection systems.
• Ability to utilize a 300 machine for threading pipe and preparing screw and groove pipe.
• Demonstrated experience installing main lines, sprinkler heads, sprinkler pipe, and cast iron piping.
• Ability to install and complete approximately 100 linear feet of main line per day.
• Knowledge of fire protection systems, including fire sprinklers and fire pumps.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints accurately.
• OSHA 30.
• Consistent adherence to safety procedures and use of PPE at all times.
• Capability to work on mid-rise and high-rise construction projects.

• Experience working on large, notable construction projects in urban environments.
• Skilled in installing and maintaining comprehensive fire protection systems.
• Familiarity with threading pipe and working with various piping materials, including cast iron and sprinkler pipe.

• Strong attention to detail and quality in installation work.
• Reliability in maintaining physical certifications and meeting project schedules.

Work EnvironmentYou will work on construction projects in locations throughout Long Island. Teams typically include multiple foremen and mechanics assigned across sites. Standard hours fall within early morning start times and mid-afternoon end times (for example, around 7:00 a.m. to approximately 2:303:30 p.m.), depending on site requirements.

The environment is active and construction-focused, requiring full compliance with site safety rules. You must wear PPE at all times and bring all necessary hand tools and maintain required physical certifications. Work is performed on busy job sites where coordination with other trades, adherence to safety standards, and readiness for field conditions are essential.

Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract to Hire position based out of Melville, NY.

Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $30.00 - $35.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
