Sanitation Technician @ Aerotek

Job Title: Sanitation TechnicianJob DescriptionThe Sanitation Technician ensures that all packaging containers, portable equipment, and facility materials meet strict cleanliness and Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) standards. This role focuses on cleaning stainless-steel drums, plastic containers, pallets, and laundry items, while safely handling cleaning agents and maintaining accurate inventory records.

Responsibilities

• Clean stainless-steel drums used in packaging operations according to established procedures.
• Clean all plastic containers used for packaging operations in line with Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
• Clean portable equipment and equipment parts used in packaging as per SOPs and sanitation guidelines.
• Wash all laundry items, including gowns and other reusable materials, as required.
• Clean all pallets used in GMP areas of the facility to maintain a hygienic production environment.
• Retrieve cleaning agents from storage and ensure proper handling and usage in accordance with safety and GMP standards.
• Manage the inventory of cleaning agents, including monitoring stock levels and reporting replenishment needs.
• Follow GMP protocols and sanitation procedures to support a clean and compliant manufacturing environment.
• Perform janitorial and general cleaning duties within production and GMP areas as needed.
• Work effectively on the night shift schedule and maintain consistent productivity and quality standards.
• Use basic computer systems to follow procedures, record activities, and complete any required documentation.
• Communicate clearly in English to understand instructions, SOPs, and safety information.

Essential Skills

• At least 6 months of experience working with machine cleaning in a production or manufacturing environment.
• Demonstrated experience working with GMPs or in a similar regulated environment such as pharmaceutical, cosmetics, or food manufacturing.
• Ability to read and write in English to follow SOPs, safety guidelines, and complete basic documentation.
• Basic computer knowledge and comfort using computer systems for work-related tasks.
• Experience performing cleaning, sanitation, or janitorial duties in a production or facility setting.
• Understanding of food handling or sanitation practices and the ability to apply them in daily work.
• Ability to work independently and follow detailed sanitation procedures with minimal supervision.
• High school diploma or equivalent educational Qualification..

• Previous experience in pharmaceutical, cosmetics, or food manufacturing environments.
• Familiarity with GMP-compliant processes and documentation.
• Experience in general production work, including handling different types of products and materials.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to maintaining a clean and organized workspace.
• Ability to work effectively as part of a team of 3040 people in a structured environment.
• Willingness to perform a variety of janitorial and sanitation tasks as operational needs require.
• Interest in growing into processing technician or supervisory roles over time.

The position is on the night shift, typically from 11:00 p.m. to 7:00 a.m., with some flexibility around the exact start time. Work involves using cleaning agents and equipment in a controlled, well-maintained production setting

Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract position based out of Markham, ON.

Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $20.37 - $20.37/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
