The Opportunity
We are recruiting an experienced HR Consultant on behalf of a rapidly expanding, investment-backed, multi-site retail business.
This is an exciting opportunity for a commercially minded HR professional seeking flexible, part-time consultancy work, with strong potential to transition into a permanent PAYE position for the right individual as the business continues to grow.
Working closely with senior management, you will take ownership of HR processes, provide practical employment advice and help establish a robust HR framework to support the organisation's continued expansion.
Key Responsibilities
- HR Advisory: Provide guidance on employee relations, performance management, absence, disciplinary and grievance matters.
- Onboarding and Offboarding: Manage new starter documentation, inductions, probationary reviews and employee exits.
- HR Policies and Compliance: Develop and maintain HR policies, procedures, employment contracts and employee handbooks.
- HR Administration: Oversee employee records, HR systems and documentation, ensuring GDPR compliance.
- Management Support: Advise senior leadership on employment law, people management and HR best practices.
- Process Improvement: Improve HR processes and introduce scalable systems to support business growth.
What We Are Looking For
- Experience as an HR Consultant, HR Advisor, HR Manager or HR Business Partner.
- Strong knowledge of UK employment law and employee relations.
- Proven experience in onboarding, HR administration, policies and procedures.
- Ability to work independently and provide commercially focused HR advice.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Ability to initially provide services on a self-employed consultancy basis.
Desirable: CIPD qualification, multi-site retail experience and familiarity with Employment Hero or similar HR systems.

Working Arrangements
The position will initially operate on a part-time, self-employed consultancy basis, with flexible working arrangements and occasional travel to London sites.
For the right candidate, there is significant potential for the engagement to develop into a permanent PAYE position, subject to business growth, performance and mutual agreement.
Consultancy fees, working hours and deliverables will be agreed with the successful applicant.
