About this role

The Opportunity

We are delighted to be supporting an established and evolving organisation with the appointment of a newly created FP&A Lead. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced finance professional to take ownership of FP&A and help shape how financial insight is used across the business.

Working closely with the Finance Director and senior stakeholders, you will move beyond traditional financial reporting to understand what is driving performance, identify commercial opportunities and provide meaningful analysis to support better decision-making.

With no dedicated FP&A resource currently in place, there is genuine scope to build the capability from the ground up, introducing best practice across planning, analysis, modelling and business intelligence. The organisation is also investing in technology, including AI, providing an interesting opportunity to influence how new tools are used across finance and reporting.

Main Duties/Responsibilities

  • Lead the development of FP&A capability across the organisation.
  • Identify trends, patterns and commercial opportunities through detailed financial and operational analysis.
  • Produce meaningful insight to support strategic and commercial decision-making.
  • Investigate costs and identify opportunities to improve efficiencies and deliver savings.
  • Develop scenario models and forecasts to assess potential business changes and opportunities.
  • Analyse areas including supplier costs, pricing, product performance and seasonal trends.
  • Turn financial information into clear, actionable recommendations rather than simply reporting the numbers.
  • Support and enhance budgeting and forecasting processes.
  • Partner with senior stakeholders, providing constructive challenge and insight around financial performance.
  • Help drive continuous improvement across finance systems, reporting and business intelligence.
  • Contribute to the adoption of new technology and explore opportunities to make greater use of AI within finance processes

You Will Be/Have

  • A qualified accountant, ideally ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent.
  • Strong FP&A experience gained within a commercial environment.
  • Demonstrable experience of budgeting, forecasting and financial modelling.
  • Comfortable operating with autonomy and capable of establishing effective FP&A processes and best practice.
  • Commercially minded and naturally inquisitive, with an interest in understanding the factors that genuinely drive business performance.
  • Able to translate complex financial information into clear, practical recommendations.
  • Confident partnering with and influencing senior stakeholders.
  • Comfortable challenging assumptions and bringing a fresh perspective to commercial decisions.
  • An interest in improving systems, reporting, business intelligence and the use of emerging technology within finance.

Benefits

  • Salary of £65,000 - £70,000, dependent on experience.
  • 25 days' annual leave plus bank holidays.
  • Auto-enrolment pension scheme.
  • High-profile role with significant exposure to senior stakeholders across the business.
  • Opportunity to establish and shape a dedicated FP&A function.
  • Scope to influence future finance systems, reporting and technology.
  • Opportunity to play a role in the organisation's adoption and use of AI.
