About this role
ROLE SUMMARY
The fintech payments landscape at talabat is complex — high transaction volumes, multiple acquiring partners, evolving scheme rules, and an internal product roadmap that doesn’t always behave as documented. We are looking for a rigorous, detail-obsessed operator who doesn’t take things at face value. When a provider says an issue is resolved, this person goes and confirms it. When a metric moves, they trace it to its root cause. When a product launches a fix, they validate the data before declaring success. This role sits at the intersection of payment performance, commercial analysis, and operational accountability — requiring someone who can work independently, challenge assumptions confidently, and translate deep analytical findings into clear recommendations for senior leadership and external partners.
WHAT’S ON YOUR PLATE?
- Own payment performance analytics end-to-end — not just tracking metrics, but independently diagnosing root causes behind acceptance rate shifts, acquirer-level anomalies, and CPO movements, without relying solely on provider or product-supplied explanations.
- Validate claims from payment providers, product teams, and processing partners through independent data analysis.
- Lead deep-dive investigations into payment performance issues and operational gaps — structuring findings clearly for senior director audiences and driving resolution through cross-functional teams.
- Drive the end-to-end execution of projects, from evaluating feasibility and commercial viability to supporting rollout in partnership with cross-functional teams.
- Evaluate internal and external opportunities aligned with the fintech strategy, and project manage their execution.
WHAT DID WE ORDER?
- 3+ years of experience in Strategy, or Operations roles within a tech, e-commerce, or fintech organization.
- Prior exposure to fintech is a requirement
- Deep working knowledge of the payments ecosystem — including acquirer processing, issuer decline logic, 3DS authentication flows, scheme rules, and settlement mechanics — sufficient to independently interrogate provider data and identify discrepancies without relying on external guidance.
- Proficiency in data analysis tools (SQL and/or Excel/Sheets at advanced level, or BI platforms) with the ability to independently build analyses, reconcile datasets, and surface insights without depending on a dedicated analytics function.
- Strong solution orientation with a high sense of ownership, accountability, and urgency.
- Collaborative and adaptable, with experience working cross-functionally across product, legal, marketing, fraud, and business operations teams.
- Ability to lead through influence — driving cross-functional outcomes without direct authority
- Naturally skeptical and intellectually rigorous — the instinct to question assumptions, trace anomalies to their source, and validate conclusions through data before acting on them.
- Ability to break down large, complex challenges into structured, executable action plans.
