Requirements
- Experience in Field Engineering or Construction Engineering within a Test and Commissioning environment, including participation in test and trial activities
- Domain specialist knowledge of communications systems
- Relevant fault-finding and problem-solving experience
- Electrical and/or electronic engineering experience
- Applicants must meet the Baseline Personnel Security Standard; many roles require higher levels of National Security Vetting, including 5–10 years of continuous UK residency depending on the role
Responsibilities
- Provide specialist knowledge and subject matter expertise to support the development and integration of external communications systems onboard submarines
- Mature the external communications sub-system throughout the submarine build, test, and commissioning lifecycle
- Undertake onboard test and trial events to support system validation and performance activities
- Coordinate subcontractor site visits, including security requirements, health and safety briefings, and onboard support during installation and testing
- Investigate defects and non-conformities relating to installation or testing, identifying and implementing appropriate resolutions
- Define system architectures, components, interfaces, and data requirements to support the development and production of component sub-systems
- Understand contractual and performance requirements for external communications systems and support the definition of acceptance criteria and events across design, build, integration, installation, and commissioning
- Work with ship staff, subcontractors, Operations, and specialist engineering teams to deliver installation, integration, testing, and handover
