Requirements
- Broad technical expertise in machine learning, including a strong understanding of ML algorithms, frameworks, and software engineering best practices.
- Proven experience maturing research-grade AI/ML code into production-ready software.
- Ability to evaluate generative AI technologies for business relevance and practical feasibility, particularly within the National Security Domain.
- Experience delivering robust proofs of concept that bridge research and final applications.
- Experience applying data science techniques to refine models and harden software.
- Proven experience building and deploying complex machine learning models in live environments.
- Must be a British citizen and have been resident in the UK for the last ten years to meet UK government security restrictions.
Responsibilities
- Design, build, and refactor complex machine learning models, taking them from experimental stages to high-quality, high-performance production software.
- Mature research outputs into hardened software with higher Technology Readiness Levels suitable for deployment in the National Security Domain.
- Design and manage the integration of machine learning models into broader software architectures, ensuring stability and performance.
- Adapt and optimize models for resource-constrained environments, including high-performance deployment on edge hardware and Android-based mobile devices.
- Refine model code for performance, improve software maturity, and resolve complex technical challenges as prototypes transition to products.
- Evaluate and support the practical application of generative AI technologies within the organization.
- Stay current with AI implementation best practices to help ensure solutions are maintainable and scalable.
- Influence technical decisions, mentor junior team members, and address complex, non-routine problems.
