About this role

Job Title: Coater Manufacturing TechnicianJob DescriptionAs a Coater Manufacturing Technician, you operate automated coating equipment in a cleanroom environment to produce and quality-check delicate wafers used in electronic and technological applications. You monitor computer-controlled processes, follow detailed run sheets, and ensure each production run meets strict quality and safety standards. This role is ideal for someone who is comfortable with technology, can stay focused for long periods, and is eager to learn specialized manufacturing processes.

Responsibilities

  • Operate a large automated coating machine, monitoring its performance from a computer station and ensuring it follows the specifications outlined in the run sheet throughout each phase of manufacturing.
  • Remain alert and attentive during long production runs that can last up to six hours, consistently verifying that the machine is operating correctly and intervening when necessary.
  • Work in a cleanroom environment to manufacture and quality-check wafers used in electronic and other technological products, handling thin and fragile materials with care.
  • Use specialized machines to scan wafers, review results on a computer, and perform basic quality control checks according to established procedures.
  • Accurately document production activities, quality checks, and machine operations in computer systems and production records.
  • Wear and properly use full cleanroom attire (bunny suit) and other required personal protective equipment while working in the cleanroom and during machine cleaning activities.
  • Assist in cleaning coating machines approximately once every 1.5 weeks, including wearing a respirator and Tyvek suit, using scrapers, and performing light physical tasks to remove buildup from machine surfaces.
  • Disassemble and reassemble parts of the coating machines during turnovers using hand tools such as wrenches and screwdrivers, following safety and procedural guidelines.
  • Operate a bead blaster to clean coating machine parts by blasting them with micro-beads inside an enclosed box, using built-in gloves to prevent direct contact with beads and dust particles.
  • Lift up to 20 pounds as needed when handling machine parts, tools, or materials during production and cleaning activities.
  • Follow Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and cleanroom protocols to maintain a safe, organized, and contamination-free work area.
  • Collaborate with teammates and leads as needed, communicating clearly about machine status, production issues, and quality concerns.
  • Work 12-hour shifts, including rotating weekend days and required overtime, while maintaining reliability and punctuality.

Essential Skills

  • Ability to operate automated manufacturing equipment and follow detailed run sheets or work instructions.
  • Average computer skills, including confidence using basic software, navigating the internet, and learning new technology with training.
  • Comfort working in a cleanroom environment while wearing a full bunny suit and other required personal protective equipment.
  • Willingness and ability to wear respirators and Tyvek suits during machine cleaning and turnover activities.
  • Ability to lift up to 20 pounds and physically access machine interiors to assist with cleaning and maintenance tasks.
  • Basic mechanical aptitude to disassemble and reassemble machine components using hand tools such as wrenches and screwdrivers.
  • Strong attention to detail, with the ability to stay focused and alert during long, repetitive machine runs without losing concentration.
  • Willingness to work 12-hour night shifts with rotating weekend days and required overtime.
  • Reliability and responsibility in following procedures and safety guidelines in a production environment.
  • Comfort working in a production or manufacturing setting with established processes and quality standards.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • No prior related manufacturing or coating experience required; training is provided for candidates who are physically capable and eager to learn.
  • Experience in production work, manufacturing, or machine operation is beneficial.
  • Knowledge of Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and cleanroom procedures is a plus.
  • Previous leadership experience, such as serving as a lead or supervisor, is valued for the responsibility and seriousness it brings to the role.
  • Experience with large product assembly can be advantageous.
  • Good general computer skills beyond the basics are helpful.
  • Familiarity with hand tools and basic mechanical work supports success in machine cleaning and turnover tasks.
  • Comfort using respirators and other PPE in industrial or cleanroom environments is an asset.

Why Work Here? You join a highly structured, technology-driven manufacturing environment that offers extensive on-the-job training and the opportunity to learn specialized cleanroom and coating processes without prior experience. The schedule provides regular 34 day weekends and a predictable rotation that averages 40 hours per week, supporting work-life balance while still allowing for overtime earnings. You work with modern equipment and clear procedures, in a setting that values responsibility, attention to detail, and the willingness to grow into a skilled technical role.

Work EnvironmentThis role is based in a cleanroom manufacturing facility focused on producing wafers for electronic and technological applications. You work primarily on 12-hour night shifts, with two main schedules: one covering Sunday through Tuesday with alternating Wednesdays, and another covering Wednesday through Friday with alternating Saturdays. The schedule provides 34 day weekends each week and averages 40 hours over a two-week period (36 hours one week and 48 hours the next), with overtime required as part of the rotation. The environment is highly controlled, following GMP and cleanroom standards, and you use automated coating machines, wafer scanning equipment, computers, bead blasting equipment, and common hand tools.

Full cleanroom attire, including a bunny suit, is required in production areas, and respirators and Tyvek suits are worn during machine cleaning and turnovers. The facility emphasizes safety, proper use of PPE, and careful handling of thin, fragile wafers, with tasks that are generally light to moderate in physical demand and limited to lifting up to 20 pounds.
