General Production Worker @ Aerotek

Job Title: General Production WorkerJob DescriptionThe General Production Worker plays a key role in a modern, automated manufacturing facility, supporting candy packaging and production operations. This position rotates between feeding finished candy onto the dumping table, inspecting product quality, packing bagged candy into cardboard boxes, and preparing pallets for the warehouse, while maintaining strict cleanliness, safety, and food quality standards.

Responsibilities

• Rotate between workstations, including feeding finished candy onto the dumping table and inspecting candy quality to ensure all packaged product meets established quality standards.
• Pack bagged candy into cardboard boxes at designated machines and manually load finished boxes onto empty pallets for transfer to the warehouse.
• Communicate material requirements promptly and clearly to appropriate personnel to maintain continuous production flow.
• Provide support to machine operators as needed, assisting with routine tasks and line operation activities.
• Continuously clean the area surrounding the workstation to maintain a safe and organized environment.
• Maintain general work center cleanliness, including supporting major line cleaning activities and end-of-shift cleaning procedures.
• Identify and fix product or packaging jam-ups quickly to minimize downtime and maintain productivity.
• Record batch numbers and time of day for every new pallet of candy to ensure accurate tracking and documentation.
• Apply knowledge and understanding of standard operating procedures (SOPs) and work instructions in daily tasks.
• Understand, participate in, and actively support all safety programs, policies, and initiatives within the manufacturing location.
• Ensure that all packaged product produced meets Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) and food safety requirements.
• Perform other related duties as assigned by the supervisor to support overall production and facility operations.

Essential Skills

• At least 6 months of general labor or general production experience in a manufacturing or similar environment.
• Ability to lift up to 30 lbs on a regular basis as part of packaging and material handling activities.
• Experience with packing, general labor, and production tasks, including working on fast-paced lines.
• Basic understanding of packaging processes and handling finished goods.
• Knowledge of SOPs and work instructions, with the ability to follow written and verbal directions accurately.
• Awareness of GMP and food safety requirements and the ability to work in compliance with these standards.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Experience with forklift operation is an asset.
• Exposure to machine operating in a production setting is an advantage.
• Comfort working in a highly automated manufacturing facility.
• Ability to work rotating continental day and night shifts in a 24/7 operation.

Work EnvironmentThe role is based in a large, GMP-compliant manufacturing facility featuring heavily automated, state-of-the-art equipment. The environment is temperature-controlled and very clean, with strict adherence to food safety and GMP standards. Employees must comply with PPE requirements, including wearing hairnets, beard nets, coats, and safety shoes. The facility employs approximately 400500 people in total, with about 100 employees per crew across four crews.

This is a 24/7 operation with rotating continental day and night shifts (7 AM7 PM and 7 PM7 AM). A typical schedule includes working MondayTuesday days, WednesdayThursday off, FridaySunday nights one week, followed by MondayTuesday off, WednesdayThursday days, and FridaySunday off the next week, continuing in this rotation.

Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract to Hire position based out of Hamilton, ON.

Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $19.00 - $19.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
