Hiring CDL Yard Jockey / Spotter Drivers!
Position Summary
We are seeking a dependable and safety-focused CDL Yard Jockey / Spotter Driver to support operations at a steel manufacturing facility. This position will primarily operate a yard jockey to move and position flatbed trailers carrying steel beams and other materials throughout the yard. This is a local/on-site role with no long-haul driving.
Job Responsibilities
- Operate a yard jockey/spotter truck to move flatbed trailers throughout the facility and yard.
- Move and position trailers loaded with steel beams and other heavy materials.
- Spot trailers at designated loading, unloading, and staging areas.
- Safely back and maneuver trailers in tight spaces and active industrial areas.
- Connect and disconnect trailers as needed.
- Inspect trailers and loads before movement to ensure they are safe and secure.
- Communicate with shipping, receiving, crane operators, and production teams to coordinate trailer movements.
- Perform pre-shift inspections of yard jockey equipment and report maintenance or safety concerns.
- Maintain awareness of pedestrians, forklifts, cranes, trucks, and other equipment operating throughout the yard.
- Follow all company safety procedures, PPE requirements, and applicable DOT regulations.
- Maintain an organized and safe yard by positioning trailers in assigned locations.
- Complete required paperwork and documentation related to trailer movements.
Qualifications
- Valid CDL required.
- Previous yard jockey, yard spotter, hostler, or commercial driving experience preferred.
- Experience maneuvering and backing flatbed trailers strongly preferred.
- Experience working around steel beams, structural steel, or other heavy materials is a plus.
- Ability to safely maneuver trailers in tight spaces.
- Comfortable working around cranes, forklifts, heavy equipment, and large steel products.
- Strong safety awareness and attention to detail.
- Dependable with a strong attendance and work ethic.
- Comfortable working outdoors and in varying weather conditions.

Job Type & LocationThis is a Permanent position based out of Taylors, SC.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $41600.00 - $54080.00/yr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
