The Opportunity
An independent firm of Chartered Accountants in Tarporley is looking to appoint an experienced Senior Accountant to its growing team.
You'll work with a broad portfolio of owner-managed businesses across Cheshire, including sole traders, partnerships and limited companies spanning a range of trades and professional sectors.
This would suit someone who wants the variety and client contact of an independent practice while still having access to experienced Client Managers who can support their continued development.
The Role
- Preparing year-end statutory accounts
- Producing supporting accounts workings
- Working with sole traders, partnerships and limited companies
- Maintaining accurate working papers and client files
- Processing and reconciling bookkeeping records
- Completing bank, VAT and control account reconciliations
- Preparing and submitting VAT returns
- Supporting clients with Making Tax Digital
- Helping clients maintain accurate digital accounting records
- Responding directly to routine client queries
- Mentoring and supervising junior Accounts Technicians
- Supporting the management of workflow across the Accounts team
- Keeping Client Managers informed of progress and upcoming deadlines
The Candidate
- AAT qualification as a minimum, although ACA/ACCA qualification would be advantageous
- Alternatively, significant experience operating at Accounts Senior level within practice
- Strong double-entry bookkeeping knowledge
- Experience preparing accounts for SMEs
- Good understanding of FRS 105 and FRS 102 Section 1A
- VAT knowledge
- Basic corporation tax compliance experience
- Experience using Xero, Sage, QuickBooks or similar
- Excellent communication skills
- Confidence explaining accounting matters to clients
- Experience mentoring or supporting junior colleagues
- A proactive and organised approach
