Experience and knowledge
Experience working with babies aged 0–2, including leading practice within a baby room
Experience supporting children’s learning, development and care routines
Strong understanding of child development, attachment and the EYFS framework
Experience working with parents and families
Good understanding of safeguarding and early identification of need
Experience supporting children with a range of needs, including SEND
Skills and abilities
Ability to lead high-quality care and learning within a baby room
Ability to model strong practice and support the development of other staff
Ability to plan, assess and monitor children’s learning and development
Ability to build strong, trusting relationships with babies, families and colleagues
Ability to organise routines and environments to support high-quality provision
Strong communication skills, including working with parents and external professionals
Desirable experience and skills
Experience as a room lead or in a leadership role within early years
Experience coaching or mentoring other practitioners
Experience supporting early communication and language development
Confidence using assessment information to inform provision
Experience working in partnership with external agencies
