About this role

Do you enjoy turning technical expertise into practical support that brings ideas to life? If so, this is an opportunity to apply your skills in a creative teaching and research environment.

We’re looking for a skilled and proactive Technical Specialist to join our Technical Services team, supporting the School of Arts and Architecture. You’ll play a key role in enabling teaching, learning and research by providing specialist technical support, maintaining facilities, and helping students and staff make the most of workshop and studio resources.

As Technical Specialist you can expect to be involved in:

Providing specialist technical support across workshops and studio environments Operating, maintaining and troubleshooting equipment to ensure safe and effective use Delivering inductions, training and demonstrations to students and staff Supporting teaching activities and contributing to a safe, well-managed technical environment

What will you bring to the role?

Experience working in a workshop, model-making or design studio environment Strong practical skills in fabrication, model-making and use of workshop machinery Experience with materials such as wood, plastics and metals, including finishing techniques Ability to support and guide students and staff, communicating technical processes clearly
