About this role

Job summary

This post is positioned within the School Health Service, part of the Children's Community Health Services Directorate in Manchester Local Care Organisation. The School Health Service operates citywide across Manchester working in partnership with schools to improve the health outcomes of children, young people and their families. Comprising of several teams: Healthy Child Programme (HCP), School Health Screening Team; Healthy Schools; and the Healthy Weight Team, the School Health Service contributes to tackling health inequalities by addressing the city's key public health priorities for children.

Main duties of the job

Working with a citywide overview, this Team Lead post is responsible for the day-to-day leadership and management of one of the four child focused functions.

This post will be subject to review and is rotational to provide the opportunity for professional development and to support service delivery. This Team Lead role will also work together with the Team Leads of the other Functions, with the Heads of Service and the Lead Manager to form the School Health Services Management Team.

Person Specification

Education and Professional qulifications Essential

Degree level qualification in a relevant field Management/leadership qualification or significant relevant training and/or experience Mentorship/teaching/coaching qualification/998 and/or equivalent training

Desirable

First level Registered Nurse Adult/Child BSc (Hons) SCPHN [SN] V100/V150 qualification and registered with NMC

EXPERIENCE Essential

Significant leadership and/or management experience in healthcare or a related setting Evidence of leading change in practice Experience of effective team leadership Experience of staff development Evidence of managing a team of staff for a substantial period Experience working at a senior level. In the clinical this would be Band 6 or above.

SKILLS/ABILITY Essential

Good communication skills Understanding of research/evidence-based practice Good organisation skills Problem solving ability Appraisal and supervision skills Experience of safeguarding Research and development skills IT literate e.g. word processing, email and Microsoft Teams Experience of managing staff performance
