A really interesting and exciting opportunity has risen for Band 6 Practitioners (Scrub Nurses) to join our friendly and dynamic theatre scrub team within Northwick Park Theatres.

The successful candidates will have an opportunity to work in the 11 Operating Theatres within the elective and emergency pathways which provides a wide range of specialties such as Gynae, ENT, Max-fax, Urology, ENT, Trauma, Colorectal, General Surgical procedures.

The job will be based in Northwick Park Hospital; however per times you will asked to work in other sites of the Trust (Central Middlesex and/or Ealing). weekends and night shifts are part of this position.

Main duties of the job

We are looking for dynamic and enthusiastic Registered Theatre Nurses (Team Leader) who have extensive post registration experience in Colorectal, General Surgery, Urology, Gynae, ENT, Max-fax and/or Trauma.

You will be leading a team of Scrub Practitioners to facilitate the smooth running of the Colorectal, General Surgery, Urology, Gynae, ENT, Max-fax and/or Trauma theatres, ensuring the day-to-day operation reflects the highest standard of governance, clinical effectiveness, and standards of care. You will, also, use your knowledge and experience to guide and support your team members whilst actively being involved in the delivery of patient care.

Person Specification

Eucation and Qualification Essential

Registered Nurse or registered ODP Teaching and Supervision qualification Level 6 Qualification Evidence of Continuous professional Development e.g. Theatre course

Desirable

L6 or above academic level Management training

Knowledge and Experience Essential

Extensive experience in theatre scrub and team lead in orthopaedic theatre Evidence of continuous Professional Development Teaching and assessment experience Theatre Experience min 3 - 4 speciality

Knowledge of current issues in operating theatre Knowledge of people management

Skill and Ability Essential

Ability to organise day to day theatre activities Abilty to Lead and delegate appropriately in Theatre Excellent verbal and written and interpersonal communication skill
