About this role

Job summary

This is a 9 PA post for Consultant paediatrician with special interest in Paediatric Allergy. The candidate will be required to provide a comprehensive service covering all aspects of the specialty and will be expected to collaborate with the lead clinician in the management and development of the paediatrics service. Previous experience in hospital management would be a benefit. The post only provides general paediatric cover. There is an entirely separate neonatal service on site at all levels.

This post will be based across two sites Northwick and Ealing Hospitals. However, it is a requirement of your employment that you be prepared to work at any additional or different location owned or served by either Trust, either on an ongoing or temporary basis according to the demands of the service.

The main duties of the post will include:

To contribute to the provision of the paediatric service as per Job Planning once appointed. This includes: - Ward attending -Week and weekends

- General Outpatient clinics

- Paediatric allergy clinics

- Paediatric Assessment Unit attending- 0800-1600

- On calls covering the ward, PAU and A&E.

The following clinical duties will be included in the DCC on a Pro-rota basis and will be discussed and agreed during the Job Planning meeting. Consultant/Specialty doctor of the week cover for acute Paediatrics at Northwick Park Hospital 08:00 - 18:00 hrs, shared with colleagues on an approximate 1 in 9 bases, Monday to Friday. Paediatric Assessment Unit attending- 0800-1600 On-call duties for Paediatrics shared with colleagues Monday to Friday, 17.30 hours until 08.00 hours off site cover. General paediatrics clinics and allergy clinics Participation in the NWL (regional) Allergy MDT.

Person Specification

Qualifications Essential

MRCPCH by examination or equivalent. On the GMC's Specialist Register OR within six months of CCT/CESR at time of scheduled interview

Desirable

Higher degree, e.g. MSc, MD, PhD in Paediatrics

Clinical Experience Essential

Able to demonstrate having achieved the competencies equivalent to the Highest Specialist Paediatric Training. Valid Level 3 Safeguarding Training Valid BLS Training

Desirable

Experience working in NHS Wider experience, research, and training, in providing subspecialty service (if applicable.)
