Job summary

An exiting new post that will bridge the gap between applied health research and real-world practice across the North West Coast health and care system. Working jointly across Health Innovation North West Coast and the NIHR Applied Research Collaborative, the postholder will lead efforts to translate research evidence into actionable improvements in patient care, service delivery, and population health outcomes.

The role focuses on enabling the adoption, spread, and scaling of evidence-based innovation across NHS organisations, local authorities, and community settings. The postholder will work closely with researchers, clinicians, policymakers, and system partners to ensure research is both informed by local needs and effectively implemented in practice.

Main duties of the job

The postholder will also contribute to innovation scaling by identifying promising interventions, assessing their readiness for wider rollout, and supporting their spread regionally and nationally.

The role requires strong stakeholder engagement and partnership-building skills, fostering collaboration across health, care, academic, and voluntary sectors. The postholder will lead workshops, support co-production approaches, and align research and innovation activity with system priorities.

In addition, the role includes programme management responsibilities such as overseeing project delivery, managing risks and resources, monitoring impact, and reporting to senior leadership and funders. The postholder will contribute to capacity building through training, mentoring, and development of knowledge mobilisation resources.

Overall, this is a strategic and collaborative role requiring expertise in research translation, implementation, and evaluation, alongside excellent communication and leadership skills to drive measurable impact across the health and care system.
