This is an exciting opportunity to join a Low-Intensity Team across Dorset, the successful candidates would be based at either 42 Gravel Hill, Wimborne for the Poole Team, or 18 Tower Road, Boscombe for the Bournemouth Team.
Dorset Steps 2 Wellbeing is a dynamic, and progressive service with a friendly and supportive team. You will work within NHS Talking Therapies, providing psychological interventions to people with mild to moderate common mental health problems, such as anxiety disorders and depression.
As a psychological wellbeing practitioner, you will provide treatment to help support people by:
Conducting patient interviews Carry out risk assessments, Provide phone, online, or face-to-face support Liaise with other agencies, and signpost patients to services, such as housing and employment. You must have either a Level 5 or Higher qualification to apply to this post.
Driving is essential for this role. You are required to have a full and valid UK driving licence and to travel using own vehicle on Trust business.
Main duties of the job
You will undertake academic training provided and accredited by the University of Exeter. During the training year, your time will be split between university study and working within the service as a Trainee Psychological Wellbeing Practitioner (PWP).
The training programme includes learning how to complete person-centred assessments, as well as developing skills in delivering CBT-based Guided Self-Help interventions for individuals experiencing symptoms of mild to moderate depression and/or anxiety disorders, including Generalised Anxiety Disorder, Panic Disorder and Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD).
University study is delivered using a hybrid learning model, combining online learning with scheduled face-to-face teaching days.
Trainee PWPs will also work on a hybrid basis within the service, with a minimum of two days per week spent delivering face-to-face interventions, and remaining days worked remotely.
Employment in this post requires an Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check, which the Trust will cover the cost of. Applicants who subscribe to the DBS update service are able to present a valid DBS certificate instead of requiring a new check.

Qualifications Essential
Qualification from PWP Training Course [Post Graduate Certificate or Level 3 undergraduate course]. Equivalent experience e.g. qualified graduate mental health worker with relevant primary care experiences and competencies as required
Desirable
Training in nursing, social work, occupational therapy, counselling or within a psychological therapy Psychology or other health related undergraduate / postgraduate degree
Skills / Experience Essential
Experience of working with people who have experienced a mental health problem Demonstrates high standards in written communication Able to evaluate and put in place the effect of training. Computer literate Excellent verbal and written communication skills including telephone skills Able to develop good therapeutic relationships with clients Demonstrates and understanding of anxiety and depression and how it may present in primary care
Desirable
Experience of working in primary care services Worked in a service where agreed targets in place demonstrating clinical outcomes Ability to manage own caseload and time Received training [either formal or through experience] and carried out risk assessments within scope of practice. Demonstrates a knowledge of the issues surrounding work and the impact it can have on mental health Knowledge of medication used in anxiety and depression and other common mental health problems. Demonstrates an understanding for the need to use evidence based psychological therapies and how it relates to this post.
