Band 3 Cardiology Admin Assistant 37.5 Hours per week available
An exciting opportunity has arisen for band 3 administration assistant who is highly motivated and up to a new challenge to develop their current skills.
The NCIC Cardiology Acute specialist nursing team is a busy service providing specialist care for a wide range of cardiology conditions, including heart failure and ischemic heart disease.
We are looking for motivated and enthusiastic admin assistant who want to work as part of a dedicated multidisciplinary team. This role will provide administrative support to the wider nursing team as well as communicating professionally with patients and relatives.
Main duties of the job
Summarised duties include:
To provide secretarial; and administrative support to the cardiac specialist nurses.
Including organising cardiac appointments.
Frequently responding to calls from patients and relatives
Obtaining of investigation results from Cardiology dept.
Check all correspondence for urgent matters and respond accordingly
Liaising with primary and tertiary care, including other cardiac specialist teams.
Retrieve notes from medical records. Ensure correct tracking of the notes in and out of the department using the hospital PAS system. Register and raise notes on the system when required.
Effectively manage filing systems, information retrieval and stock control where appropriate, ordering stationery, patient leaflets etc as required.
Manage working time, prioritising workload effectively.
Attend and participate in departmental planning meetings

Person Specification
Qualifications Essential
5 GCSEs including English language at minimum grade C, or equivalent
Desirable
NVQ 3 in Business Administration.
Knowledge and Experience Essential
Recent administrative or secretarial experience. Knowledge of Microsoft Office. Use of databases. Experience of a Patient Admin System.
Desirable
Handling confidential records Working in a healthcare setting PAS-silverlink
Skills and Aptitudes Essential
Excellent IT skills Good communication skills. Good organisational skills Able to prioritise work and work to deadlines. Ability to work as part of a team. Able to use initiative appropriately.
