Job summary
An exciting opportunity has arisen on our Haematology Inpatient Ward for an experienced and motivated Chemotherapy/SACT trained cancer nurse. The Haematology inpatient ward is part of the Cancer Care Directorate.
This individual will be able to assist the ward sister in leading the multi-disciplinary team to provide high quality care to patients with a variety of cancers and haematological disorders.
The deputy sister/charge nurse post will support the ward sister to lead the existing proactive and highly skilled team, which prides itself on high quality patient focused care.
All applicants must have experience of shift coordination, leadership skills, specialist knowledge and skills in the care and treatment of oncology and Haematology patients. They will need to have current experience of administering chemotherapy/SACT and demonstrate extended scope of practice and skills to support the development of the Ward. The applicant will demonstrate an energy and true enthusiasm for the speciality and service development.
The successful candidate will provide expert knowledge, high quality care and psychological support to patients and their families requiring treatment and will assist the ward sister in the development of the ward acting as resource for education and compliance with national and local initiatives.

Qualifications Essential
UK NMC Qualification Recognised Teaching Qualification Degree/Masters level qualification in Heamatology/Oncology
Desirable
1st Level Degree or working towards Leadership and managment qualification Physical Examination of Adult Non-Medical Prescribing
Experience Essential
Demonstrable post-registration experience, to include recent experience at Band 5 in Haematology/Oncology Teaching Practice and developing staff Research and audit experience
Desirable
6 months experience of administering SACT including haematology chemotherapy regimes
Technical Skills Competencies Essential
Proven leadership ability Ability to work unsupervised and on own initiative and as part of multi-disciplinary team Extended role skills, IV drug administration, Cannulation and phlebotomy, Administration of SACTnd change management skills including presentation skills.
