Job summary
The Trauma and Orthopaedic Department at UHD are looking for a motivated and enthusiastic individual to join the team as a Speciality Doctor in shoulder surgery and trauma working with Mr Moverley, Mr Hartley, Mr Muthian who specialise in shoulder Surgery.
This is an exciting time to join as we are currently making great progress with a vision in creating a first class fully integrated Trauma and Orthopaedic Service within our Bournemouth and Poole Hospital sites as part of the new University Hospitals Dorset.
Main duties of the job
Work alongside our existing specialty doctors and registrars to provide care to inpatients including new admissions
Supervision and support of junior medical colleagues, Physicians Associates and Advanced Nurse Practitioners/Advanced Clinical Practitioners
Maintaining continued professional development
Attending ward multidisciplinary meetings
Attending and contributing to educational sessions and Clinical Governance meetings
Partaking in departmental Quality Improvement work
Participating in the hospital appraisal process as part of on-going professional development
Weekend working will be expected in this role

There is a planned move for this service wherethis role and base of work will relocate to the Bournemouth Hospitalsite. Upon relocation of the role/service, excess mileage allowance / reimbursement will not apply, and any travel between the postholder's home and work base will be classified as a commute. Any other changes unrelated to this, will be handled in line with Trust/National terms and conditions.
As part of our commitment to delivering high-quality care across seven days, this post may involve participation in an out-of-hours rota, including evenings, weekends, and/or bank holidays, in accordance with service needs. Any work undertaken outside standard hours/PA's will attract remuneration in line with the respective NHS Medical and Dental Terms and Conditions of Service.
