The Admission and Day Case Unit (ADCU) is a friendly, forward-thinking 20-bedded unit dedicated to both day cases and inpatient admissions. Our state-of-the-art facility includes 8 consultation rooms and a comfortable 20-chair waiting area, all designed to support a smooth, patient-centred experience.
We care for a diverse range of patients, including those undergoing joint replacements, spinal procedures, oncology treatments, and small joint surgeries. Our patients range in age from 17 to the elderly, and we're proud to play a vital role in helping them on their journey to better mobility and improved quality of life.

Main duties of the job
Safe care of pre and post operative patients recovering from a variety of orthopaedic surgeries. Appropriate escalation of concern.
Pain management and medicines administrations according to NMC guidance and local policy.
Effective communication with both patients and staff.
Co-ordinating care with ward based therapy teams. Facilitating ward based investigations and procedures.
Working as part of a multi-disciplinary team to achieve best patient outcomes.

Relevant Experience Essential
Orthopaedic or oncology experience during training Evidence of ongoing professional development

Evidence of orthopaedic or oncology experience during trainig or post graduation Recent acute hospital experience.
Knowledge Essential
Basic understanding of common procedures carried out in a day case unit (e.g., minor surgeries, scopes, infusions). Knowledge of vital signs monitoring and early identification of patient deterioration (e.g., NEWS2). Knowledge of the changing NHS, clinical governance. Supervision of the care of a group of patients.
Desirable
Knowledge of the patient journey from admission to discharge in a same-day care setting. Basic understanding of pain management, wound care, and recovery protocols
Skills Essential
Excellent communication skills, verbal, written and listening. Self-motivated to develop personal learning and skills. Able to prioritise workload. Able to work under pressure.
