About this role

Job summary

Work in partnership with the Security Supervisor, and Departmental supervision and management to contribute to the maintenance of a dynamic and proactive security service, to ensure the highest standards are met at all times. To ensure, in conjunction with the Security Supervisor or Operations Management, that patient, visitor and staff safety is supported at all times.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will work as an integral part of the Facilities team ensuring a high quality service to patients, visitors and staff. To act as part of a team in the delivery of a customer orientated and high quality security service. To receive work requests via telephone, take prompt and appropriate action in a courteous and helpful manner in order to ensure that an effective and timely service is offered to all services users. Prioritise work and direct staff accordingly to ensure that all resources are used effectively, reacting promptly to work requests from departments/wards.

Job description Job responsibilities

To maintain good order and prevent public disorder on all Trust sites The protection of patients, staff, contractors and visitors against acts of violence, aggression and abuse The protection of property belonging to the Trust, patients, staff, visitors and contractors against loss, theft and damage To assist with violent or aggressive patients at ward level Operate and answer the communication device, i.e. Radios or bleep, issued to staff in courteous manner and action the requests. Give directions and advice to patients and visitors across the Trust sites Log all security incidents using the Track Tik and Datix incident reporting system, pass on any relevant information to the rest of the team in the handover email addressed to the Security Department email address Keep police log numbers, security reports for police, contact police and security as and when required. Be responsible for security of CCTV information. Make sure all departments and staffs are aware of any security alerts. Respond to requests for assistance from wards and departments. To record all work requests accurately using the TrackTik System Using the correct system, dispatch tasks to Security in a fair and timely manner ensuring that they have all the relevant and adequate information required to carry out the task To accurately record when all tasks are issued and completed by all Security and Police staff To liaise with the Security Manager/ Supervisors and Team leaders to resolve any issues that may arise during their shift and make decisions as appropriate To report any problems or concerns relating to security staff activity To record all complaints received accurately using the appropriate paperwork in accordance with the Departmental Policy Monitor Closed Circuit Television (CCTV) for all Trust sites Report identified faults in security systems to Estates Department Provide guidance and facilitate access to the CCTV system for the purpose of Police investigations in line with the Trust CCTV policy Maintain CCTV logs in accordance with the Data Protection Act 1998 To ensure that emergency procedures e.g. major incident, are carried out in accordance with the departmental policy using the approved paperwork as logged in the Emergency Preparedness file. Person Specification

Knowledge & Experience Essential

Previous Security demonstrable experience using conflict resolution skills Proven ability to Communicate at all levels Demonstrable experience of working with challenging patients/individuals with challenging behaviour Demonstrable experience of using CCTV equipment

Desirable

Previous demonstrable experience of working in a hospital/healthcare environment Previous demonstrable experience working within the mental health sector

Qualifications Essential

Professional security qualification or applicable security industry demonstrable experience Control & Restraint Trained (NHS recognised standard) Conflict Resolution training & Breakaway technique trained Educated to GCSE (A to C/ 4-9) or equivalent

Desirable

Formal IT Training or willingness to undertake relevant training Customer service qualification or equivalent

Aptitude and Abilities Essential

Ability to work under stressful conditions Previous demonstrable experience in dealing with the public
