About this role

Job summary Applications are invited for a Band 6 Mould Room Technician in the Leeds Cancer Centre for one year to cover maternity leave. We will consider candidates with less experience that can be employed on Annex 21.

We are looking for an enthusiastic Radiographer/Clinical Technologist with experience in Radiotherapy to participate in all aspects of providing a specialist service.

We have a strong multi-disciplinary approach to working and the successful candidate will be involved in the manufacturing and fitting of custom made devices and participating in the day to day running of the Mould Room.

Main duties of the job At Leeds we make devices for over 1200 patients each year. This is a developing and expanding service and, in addition to Head & Neck patients, also includes paediatrics, brachytherapy, total skin electron therapy, electron skin treatments and limb immobilisation.

Research and innovation are at the heart of the service, with opportunities to be part of projects as well as a large portfolio of local and national clinical trials.

Leeds Cancer Centre, situated in the Bexley Wing of St Jamess is a major centre treating over 7800 new radiotherapy patients per annum. The centre is equipped with the latest technology, including 12 Versa HDs, a Flexitron remote afterloading platform, MR-Sim and Gamma Knife ICON. Almost all planned treatments are delivered with FFF, either with IMRT or VMAT

What you will bring to the role You should have:

A degree in Clinical Technology or related discipline, e.g. Therapy Radiography, or equivalent level of knowledge and experience backed up by formal training

Experience of patient moving and handling

Knowledge of the Patient pathway through the Radiotherapy Treatment Planning process

Knowledge of Mould Room practices

Understanding of IR(ME)R

Knowledge of the safe use of all materials used in Mould Room

Knowledge of anatomy and physiology

Understanding of COSHH

Knowledge of relevant legislation, national standards, professional and other guidelines

Knowledge of Health and Safety issues when using Mould Room equipment
