Job summary
We are delighted to share with you a role for a Highly Specialist Cancer Dietitian who will be responsible for leading the oncology dietetic service with responsibility for a Band 6 oncology dietitian and also to provide support for the wider team including rotational dietitians, dietetic apprentices and learners as well.
The Nutrition and Dietetics team at Dorset County Hospital is a forward-thinking, friendly and professional team consisting of administrative staff, dietetic apprentices, dietetic learners, dietitians, ACPs and Nutrition nurses. We are a department that pride ourselves in delivering a patient-focused, high quality level of care.
Main duties of the job
Lead a high quality oncology dietetic service at Dorset County Hospital for inpatient and community cancer patients, driving service improvements and optimising the profile of the service Carry a caseload of cancer patients including inpatients, outpatient clinics, and community support which includes Home Enteral Nutrition As an autonomous HCPC registered Dietitian, work closely and communicate effectively with HEN services across Dorset and with provider of off script services Provide evidence based Dietetic services to a caseload of cancer patients under the care of DCH, working as part of a patient focused, highly specialist multidisciplinary team (MDT) and attending MDT meetings as required Actively contribute to the wider Dietetic Department as a senior member of the team, promoting a high quality and patient-focused service and development of the profession Co-ordinate with cancer services across the system to provide an integrated service to patients receiving distributed urgent and integrated care To be an active member of the Wessex oncology group

Education, Qualifications and Training Essential
Degree/Post Graduate qualification in Nutrition and Dietetics Current registered dietitian status with HCPC Able to work at an advanced level Evidence of continuing professional development
Desirable
Management training BDA and oncology sub-group membership
Knowledge & Experience Essential
Extensive experience with providing enteral nutrition Experience of developing and delivering training to healthcare professionals of all levels of experience Experience of initiating, evaluating and sustaining changes to service development Experience of team management and/or leadership Experience of working autonomously and collaboratively within an MDT Able to negotiate effectively Experience in audit and clinic governance issues Research experience Student supervision experience
Desirable
Post-registration experience including specific experience in the management of complex patients with cancer.
