Please note: at this stage, the role is open only to colleagues currently employed within Kent and Medway NHS Trusts, the Kent and Medway Integrated Care Board (ICB) and Medway Community Healthcare. Nursing vacancies are also open to Student Nurses and Newly Qualified Nurses.

Although based in East Sussex, we are employed by KCHFT which is an outstanding trust. We believe that the best health care is delivered by multi-disciplinary teams working together and in partnership with other teams to provide seamless care.

We are currently seeking a B5 Occupational Therapist with experience in home adaptations, either prior to training or post-qualification and with an interest in working with children and young people with complex needs. The post is newlycreated and will primarily be focused on DFG work with the aim to develop wider competencies after 6 months within aspecial school.

The service has a strong commitment to training and development with robust supervision and shadowing opportunitiesacross the service.

Main duties of the job

As a member of the Children's Integrated Therapy and Equipment Service the post-holder will be part of a countywideteam providing specialist assessments to inform housing adaptations to children and young people up to the age of 18.

The adaptations team also review specialist home equipment prescribed as part of a Disabled Facilities Grant and as partof the wider integrated care team as required.

You will need to be initiative-taking, resilient and solution-focused to embrace new ways of working; with an interest in developing equipment knowledge including manual-handling and postural management. Car-driver is essential. The post-holder will work closely within the complex needs integrated team including Speech and Language Therapy,Physiotherapy, School Nursing and Integrated Therapy Assistants as well as key partner agencies.

There will be a requirement to work in a special school within 6 months of commencing position with a view to developing competencies in postural management and statutory provision.
